Terms of Service

Welcome to Dropins. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Dropins mobile application (the "App") operated by Dropins ("we," "us," or "our").

By using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. Testing Phase

The App is currently in a testing phase (beta). This means:

  • Features may change, break, or be removed without notice.
  • Data, including your profile, connections, and messages, may be deleted or reset at any time as part of ongoing development.
  • Service availability is not guaranteed. The App may experience downtime or interruptions.
  • We welcome feedback and bug reports at lucas.meletis@gmail.com.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age to use the App. By using the App, you represent and warrant that you are 18 or older and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

3. Account and Profile

  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
  • Profile information you provide (name, bio) will be visible to other users within discovery range.
  • You agree to provide accurate information and not to impersonate any other person.

4. How Dropins Works

Dropins is a location-based social app that connects nearby users through time-limited interactions:

  • Discovery — the App shows you profiles of other users who are near your current location.
  • Dropping in — you can send a connection request ("drop in") to another user. If they also drop in on you, a mutual connection is established.
  • 24-hour window — connections and pending requests expire after 24 hours. This is a core feature of the App and is by design.
  • Messaging — connected users can exchange messages during the 24-hour window.

We have no obligation to preserve expired connections, messages, or any data beyond the active connection window.

5. Acceptable Use

When using the App, you agree not to:

  • Harass, threaten, bully, or intimidate other users.
  • Send unsolicited, abusive, hateful, or sexually explicit content.
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity.
  • Use the App for any illegal purpose or to facilitate illegal activity.
  • Spam other users with repetitive or unwanted messages.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the App.
  • Use bots, scrapers, or automated tools to interact with the App.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the App's infrastructure or other users' experience.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at our sole discretion if you violate these terms.

6. Location Services

The App requires access to your device's location services to function. By enabling location permissions, you consent to the collection and use of your location data as described in our Privacy Policy.

You may disable location services at any time, but the App's core discovery features will not be available without it.

7. Intellectual Property

The App, its design, code, logos, and content are owned by Dropins and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without our prior written consent.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, particularly during the testing phase.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Dropins shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the App, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of connections, or interactions with other users.

10. Account Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, for any reason, including but not limited to violation of these Terms. During the testing phase, accounts may also be removed as part of data resets.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will update the "Last updated" date when changes are made. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

Data Collection Policy

This section details what data Dropins collects, why, and how it is handled.

How Data Is Stored

  • All data is stored on Supabase infrastructure hosted in the United States.
  • Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS/SSL).
  • Database access is protected by row-level security policies and authenticated API access.

Third-Party Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with third parties. The only third party that processes your data is:

  • Supabase, Inc. — our database and backend infrastructure provider, which processes data solely to operate the App on our behalf.

We do not use advertising networks, data brokers, or third-party analytics services.

Data Retention

  • Active accounts — data is retained for as long as your account exists.
  • Expired connections — connection records and messages from expired 24-hour windows may be periodically cleaned up.
  • Testing phase — during the current testing period, all data may be deleted or reset at any time without notice as part of ongoing development.
  • Account deletion — upon request, your account and associated data will be deleted. Contact lucas.meletis@gmail.com to request deletion.

Your Controls

  • Location — revoke location access anytime via your device settings.
  • Profile — edit or remove your profile information within the App.
  • Account — request full account and data deletion by email.
  • Data access — request a copy of your personal data by emailing us.
